About the Assembly Import Tool

The Meridian Enterprise Assembly Import Tool can be used to import a variety of CAD assemblies into a vault. After you select the top level file of an assembly, the tool scans the file for links to other files that are referenced by the selected file. It then imports all of the files and creates Meridian Enterprise references that represent each link found. The Assembly Import Tool supports the following CAD drawing formats:

• AutoCAD/Mechanical Desktop
• AutoCAD sheet sets
• AutoCAD Electrical projects
• AutoCAD P&ID projects
• Autodesk Inventor
• SolidWorks
• MicroStation

To import an assembly:

1. In the Meridian Enterprise program group of the Windows Start menu, select Assembly Import Tool. The Import Assembly wizard appears listing the types of assemblies that you can import.
2. Select an assembly type and click Next.
3. Click Browse and select the assembly that you want to import. If you want to import all assemblies in the selected folder, select Import Folder. Click Next.
4. Click Select and select a vault or work area for the destination of the assemblies. If you want to create a new subfolder for the imported assembly, type its name in the field provided. Click Next.
5. Click Finish. The import status of each assembly is shown along with a progress bar while the files are imported. When the import is finished, the results are shown.
6. Click New Import to repeat the process with a different assembly. Click Add to save the results to a log file. Click Close to when you are finished.
